Week of September 25-29th!!!

I don’t know about you, but I am really looking forward to the cooler weather that is supposed to arrive later this week. I love fall and can’t wait to see pumpkins everywhere and the fall leaves on the trees. Here are some important dates for the week:
Monday-Thursday: read 20 minutes a night, Reading logs
Friday, September 29th: reading logs due, last day to pass a Reading Counts quiz for September
Tuesday, October 3rd: Bookmobile (begin looking for those books)

ELA: This week we are focusing on the sound pattern -eech for our spelling words. Example words include beech (tree), speech, leech, breech, screech). We are also beginning our new unit on poetry, drama, and prose (fiction and nonfiction books). We will learn the elements of the three and then look at some examples of each kind. This is a topic we will revisit several times this year. Check out these practice pages:

Science:
This week we will continue our unit on mixtures and solutions. We will compare and contrast mixtures and solutions, practice taking apart mixtures and solutions, takes notes, and complete a worksheet. Check out these practice activities:
