Week of February 22nd – 26th!!!

I apologize for just now posting this weekly update. I was out on Monday because my son had his 9-year-old check up and an orthodontist appointment. Then we had this beautiful snow fall today, and I completely forgot to update. Here are a few important reminders:
1. Picture Day is Friday
2. Parent Teacher Conferences are on March 16th and 17th
3. Spring Break starts on March 17th after school and we will return to school on Tuesday, March 29th.

ELA: We are learning about many types of figurative language this week and next week including similes (comparison of 2 things using like or as), metaphors (comparing 2 things by saying one thing is another thing), personification (giving nonliving things human qualities), alliteration (using the same beginning sound over and over), and hyperbole (exaggerating). We have also worked on a math and reading MAP practice test and will finish them by early next week. Check out the following activities:

1. Figurative Language baseball game
2. Figurative Language flash cards
3. Tons of figurative language activities

This week we are continuing our unit on magnetism. We discovered this week that not all metals are attracted to magnets, only iron and steel. We will begin learning about electromagnets soon!

2. Magnetism Ball game
3. Magnetism and Compasses
4. Tons of Magnetism activities
