Week of April 29th – May 3rd!!!

The countdown to summer is on! Including Monday, we have 24 days left of school with our final day on May 31st! We have some amazing things planned for the end of the year, but first, let’s find out what we have coming up now:

Monday: read 20 minutes, RL
Tuesday: read 20 minutes, RL
Wednesday: read 20 minutes, RL, MAP testing
Thursday: read 20 minutes, RL, MAP testing
Friday: reading logs due, Bookmobile (last time to check out), Wildcat Assembly with 4th grade performing!, popcorn day 25 cents, practice Run/Walk at 2pm
Saturday: Hazelwood Run/Walk PTA Scholarship Fundraiser

ELA: We completed ELA MAP testing last week!!! The best part was that every student in our classroom was present for all 3 days, so no make-up testing! Because of the heavy focus on reading last week, we will have less focus this week to get all of our other subjects in. Our spelling words for the week include the tele- prefix (telephone, telescope, television, telegram, telepathy) and the super- prefix (superfine, superhuman, and supernatural). We will also continue reading our classroom novel, “The Capture”. Check out the following 4th grade review games:

1. Theme Kid Heroes game
2. Reading Raiders Cause and Effect
3. Ghosts in the Graveyard game

Science:
The first part of this week will have students finishing their slide show on animal adaptations and presenting it to the class. We will then begin our Nature Unleashed unit which focuses on Missouri habitats and ecosystems. We will begin by learning plant and animal basic needs for survival, and then why space is so important to plants. Check out the following practice activities:

1. Sorting Plants and Animals online game
2. Fun Plant Videos
a. Venus Fly Trap
b. Largest Flower in the World
c. Giant Water Lilies
3. Grow a Garden Game
