I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend, and took some time to do something kind for others in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr day! Here is a look at our week ahead:
Monday: no school
Tuesday: read 20 minutes, study spelling words, boys/girls basketball practice
Wednesday: read 20 minutes, study spelling words, girls basketball practice
Thursday: read 20 minutes, study spelling words, p.e., boys/girls basketball practice
Friday: read 20 minutes, spelling test
Science: We are starting our third science unit this week. It is an extension of our last energy unit. We will look at light and sound energy this week and learn how they travel. Students will begin to see that light and sound energy travels in waves. Students can practice below:
Reading: We will review structural elements of poetry this week, focusing on similes/metaphors, imagery, and onomatopoeia. Similes are phrases in poems that compare 2 objects using like or as, metaphors compare 2 objects without like or as, imagery is when poets put words that appeal to our 5 senses in the poem, and onomatopoeia is when the word in a poem sounds like the sound that object makes in real life. Students can practice below:
