Week of April 6th – 10th!!!

Good morning Room 9! I miss you all more and more every week. I am happy to know that you are safe at home. Remember: wash those hands, and stay home :)!!! Here are some important reminders:

1. You only have assigned school work this week Monday – Thursday because of the previously scheduled spring weekend on Friday and next Monday.
2. The take-home packets should get you through this week and maybe even next Tuesday if you waited to start on them a few days.
3. The school has work for you to pick up for next week. The pick up days are on April 8th (last names A – M), 9th (last names N – Z), and 14th (any last name). The pick-up times will be from noon – 4 pm each day. You can also pick up a chrome book if you have not already. You will simply drive up, tell your grade level, and a staff member will place the items in your trunk.
4. Beginning April 20th, we will transition to an online program called Odysseyware. This program will have daily practice for reading, math, science, and social studies. More information will be emailed/sent to you about getting your child logged in on this new program.
5. If you do not have internet access at home, we have developed lessons for your child to do on paper. These packets will be given to you at the packet pick-up next week.
6. Remember, my “office hours” are from 9:30-11:30 daily. Please feel to email me at sheckstr@hazelwoodschools.org anytime and I will respond as soon as possible.
7. Don’t forget our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/196560528437253/ I will try better to update it this week. This page serves more as a fun way to stay connected with students and families.
8. Ask your child to check out Google Classroom Reading page. I have been adding questions, FlipGrid activities, and other information there as well. That is also a great place for them to ask me questions about any of their assignments.
9. Fourth grade teachers will be meeting “live” with students weekly on Wednesdays at 2:00. This will be through the writing google classroom students have access to. If they don’t have access, the code to join is: j5fnjnk. Students simply go to google classroom, click the + button, and type in the code.

ELA: Please make sure you are reading for 20 minutes every day! Also, complete days 6-9 in your “at-home” packet this week. Here are some practice games for reading:
1. Main Idea Wild Taxi
2. Character Traits Soccer
3. Inference Heroic Ants game

Science: The lessons in the packet this week will have you read a book and answer some questions about ecosystems and animals. Here are some fun practice games:
1. Feed the Dingo ecosystems game

3. Camouflage Game– camouflage helps animals survive in their ecosystems. Can you find them in this game?
