Week of April 15th-19th!

We survived our first week of state testing, and I am so proud of how hard the students worked on our first 2 days of reading testing. We are not testing this week, but will take the writing portion of the test next week on Friday. Here are some other upcoming important dates:

Monday: read 20 minutes, RL
Tuesday: read 20 minutes, RL, Culver’s Night 5-8 pm
Wednesday: read 20 minutes, RL, Early Dismissal 2:50, Honor Roll Dinner
Thursday: reading log due
Friday/Monday: no school

ELA: We are working on a new set of spelling words that have the prefix re- (redo, rewrite, repaint, etc). We are also revisiting a skill we have worked on all year- making inferences (using clues in the story to answer questions that are not directly found in the text). Check out the following practice activities:

1. Inference Riddles
2. Inferences Battleship
3. Inferences Trivia challenge

Science: We will wrap up learning how internal structures help animals survive (specifically the eyeball and how it sends messages to the brain), and then students will be given the opportunity to do a research project on an animal of their choice looking into how the internal and external structures of that animal help it to survive. Check out the following practice activities:

1. Build A Fish
2. Guess the Skeleton game
3. Animal Characteristics Online Game
