Week of February 19th-23rd!

I had a wonderful time hanging out with family and friends this President’s Day weekend, and hope you did as well. Here are some important upcoming dates:

Monday, 2/19: no school
Tuesday, 2/20-2/22: read 20 minutes, reading log
Wednesday, 2/21: Pencil Palace, PTA meeting 6:30
Friday, 2/23: reading logs due, conference form due

ELA: We will study words with the -ling suffix (little/small)- duckling, yearling, suckling, and fledgling and words with the mis- prefix (wrong, not)- misbehave, misconduct, misfortune, mistake, and miscount. Our spelling test will be next Friday. We will also review making inferences from nonfiction text, and the author’s purpose for writing a nonfiction text. An author’s purpose can include wanting to entertain, persuade, or inform a reader. Check out these practice pages:

Science:
We are starting our unit on electricity. First we will look at Static Electricity, and by the end of the week we will begin talking about current electricity. Check out these practice pages on both:
