What’s Been Going on in Science?

We have had a busy beginning to science this year! Students have been learning about why scientists ask questions, what tools scientists use, and how scientists answer their questions. Students have worked on two challenges:
1. a marshmallow challenge to build the tallest tower out of raw spaghetti, a marshmallow, some string, and a meter of tape. Students learned how to work in groups through this challenge.
2. an experiment to test if warm or cold water is better for dissolving salt. We used this experiment to learn about the scientific method.

We have also practiced using scientific tools including a microscope, hand lens, beaker, graduated cylinder, and thermometer. Check out some pictures below!microscope
