Week of October 28th – November 1st!!

Happy Halloween to all (although it feels more like the winter season than fall right now)! I hope you all find time to head out and get lots of candy this week! Here are some upcoming important dates:

Monday: read 20 minutes, reading log, wear red day
Tuesday: read 20 minutes, reading log, wear favorite sports team, Trunk or Treat
Wednesday: read 20 minutes, reading log, wear a hat day
Thursday: reading log due, Superhero day
Friday: no school!!!

ELA: The new spelling words for this week include -otch words (scotch, notch, botch) and -orch words (scorch, porch, torch). We are also continuing our unit on cause and effect in nonfiction stories by using graphic organizers to show how one effect can also be a cause of something new. You can practice cause and effect on last week’s activities.

Science: We have been learning about types of energy and will now put some of those energy to work in some hands-on activities this week. We will focus on types of variables in our experiments and then test how to add more energy to a system. Check out these practice activities:
