Week of September 5th-9th!!!

I had such a relaxing Labor Day weekend, and enjoyed some quality time with my family. I hope each of you also got to spend some time together as a family, relaxing, and having fun! Here are some important dates:

Friday, September 9th: reading logs due-I sent them home last Thursday night in case some students wanted to get a head start on their reading over the weekend. I will continue to send these home at the end of the week.
Friday, September 9th @ 2:45: Wildcat Assembly: come help us celebrate all of our students’s wonderful accomplishments
Friday, September 16th: School Picture Day-information will come home in Friday Folders this week.

ELA:
This week we are focusing on the sound pattern -eave. Example words include heave, cleave, sheave, leave, and weave. We will have a spelling test on Friday, the 16th. We are also discussing the theme, or lesson, in a story. We have been reading Aesop’s Fables and practice identifying the lesson being taught in them. We are finishing up “Caleb’s Choice” this week as well. Students will take a Reading Counts quiz over the story on Friday. Check out these practice pages below:

Science:
This week we have begun learning about the 3 Phases of Matter: Solids, liquids, and gases. Students have learned the characteristic of each, and how they change from one phase to another. Check out these practice pages:

In science we also discussed using our science books and notebooks to help us complete science activities. Every science assignment is open book and open notebook. Tests are not open book or notebook, but students will get study guides at least one week prior to a test. Please let me know if you have any questions.
