Week of April 18th-22nd!!!

Don’t you just love this beautiful weather we are having?!? The rain could stay away, but I do love how it is making everything so green and full of life! Here are some important dates for this week:

April 18th: APA visit
April 20th: Early Release day at 2:50 and Pencil Palace
April 23rd: HSD Art Show at Central High from 10-2

ELA: This week we are continuing our work on using text evidence to support or disprove a claim. Students became the teachers and wrote 5 claims based on a nonfiction book. They then “assigned” the claims to another student who had to find evidence in the text to support or disprove the claim. We will also begin reviewing firsthand and secondhand accounts of an event. A firsthand account means that the person actually experienced the event while a secondhand account means that they researched an event.

Science:
This week we have focused on animal adaptations (how animals survive in their environment). We have focused on camouflage and having the right body parts to survive. Students created a new bird and explained how its’ beak and feet help it survive in a certain ecosystem.
