I hope everyone was able to take a minute to reflect about how we can help other people during the Martin Luther King Jr holiday! One of my favorite quotes from Dr. King is:
I try each and every day to help build all students’ character and intelligence. I think it is so important for every child.
We have started the second semester off in an exciting way! We are now using our chromebooks every day in class. The Hazelwood School District has supplied each 3rd-12th grader with a chromebook. When students enter middle school they will be allowed to take the chromebooks home. Today (Tuesday), we are holding a Chromebook bootcamp in fourth grade. We will spend the entire day learning how to make google docs and slides, visiting websites we will use in the future, and practicing apps that have been downloaded. My goal if for students to be completing at least 75% of their daily work on the chromebook. I will still be making copies of the work to send home, but students will also be able to log into their google account at home to see work that has been graded.

ELA: Students will begin our unit on point of view. We will learn about first-person, second-person, and third-person point of view. We will examine different stories and discuss what point-of-view it was written in. Here are some practice sites:

Science: In science we will begin our unit on natural resources and renewable and nonrenewable resources. Natural resources are resources that come from nature. Renewable resources are resources that can be used over and over without running out. Nonrenewable resources can never be used again.
