Week of November 18th – 22nd!!!!

The forecast this week looks much nicer as far as temperatures go, but please don’t forget to bring a coat, gloves, and hat daily as the weather can change very quickly this time of year. Here are some upcoming dates:

Monday: read 20 minutes, reading log
Tuesday: read 20 minutes, reading log, chess club, PTA mtg 6:30
Wednesday: read 20 minutes, reading log
Thursday: read 20 minutes, reading log, chorus, student council meeting at 8 am
Friday: reading logs due

**K.I.S.S. day next Monday from 2-3 pm

ELA: This week we will wrap up our analogies practice and move onto firsthand and secondhand accounts. Firsthand accounts are told by people who actually experienced the event, while secondhand accounts are told by people who have researched the event or talked to someone about it. Firsthand accounts can include diaries and autobiographies, while secondhand accounts include newspaper articles and nonfiction text. We are also adding -unch words (bunch, hunch, lunch, munch, punch, brunch, and crunch) and -urse (curse, nurse, purse) words to our spelling list. We will have our test on Friday.

Science: We will begin to focus on the definition of work. Work is defined by scientists as using energy to make something move. We will begin learning how simple machines make doing work easier. Check out the practice activities:
