Week of February 25th-March 1st!

We have made it to the last week of February! Spring will be here before we know it (although I hear there is more snow coming later this week). This week we are wrapping up Black History Month and celebrating Read Across America Week (Dr. Seuss’s Birthday). Check out important dates:

Monday: Wear red and blue, read 20 minutes and complete reading log
Tuesday: picture day, wear crazy socks, read 20 minutes and complete reading log
Wednesday: wear green day, read 20 minutes and complete reading log
Thursday: wear pajamas, read 20 minutes and complete reading log
Friday: wear a hat day, reading logs due, Wildcat Assembly at 2:45, popcorn day 25¢

ELA: This week we are focusing on words with the -hood suffix (neighborhood, childhood, adulthood, falsehood) and im-/in- prefix (impossible, immobilize, inactive, etc). We are also starting a fun unit on print advertisements and what the creators of them are trying to express through the advertisement. We will look at advertisements and evaluate what type they are and what the creator is trying to convey to the reader. Check out the following practice activities:

Science: In science we are learning about George Washington Carver, famous plant scientist, and his contributions to science. We are also continuing on our focus of how humans have negatively impacted plants and animals and solutions to these problems. Check out the following:
