Week of September 24th-28th!!!

Happy Fall everyone! This is one of my most favorite times of the year. It is so fun to get outside, enjoy the weather, and spend time with loved ones. I hope you get the chance to do so as well! Here are some upcoming important events:

Monday: read 20 minutes
Tuesday: read 20 minutes
Wednesday: read 20 minutes
Thursday: read 20 minutes, Wildcat Chorus
Friday: spelling test, last day to order spirit wear

ELA: We will continue working on our two sound patterns for the week in spelling: -eech and -een. Students will take the spelling test on Friday. We have completed our fiction unit on “Caleb’s Choice”, and will now be working on elements of poetry, drama (plays), and prose (books/stories). We will examine each type and look at examples of the work trying to find elements such as dialogue, a cast of characters, and figurative language. Check out these practice activities below:

1. Poetry, Drama, Prose video
2. Poetry, Drama, Prose jeopardy
3. Poetry Comprehension Game

Science: In science we are focusing on knowing what places are likely to experience a natural disaster such as a volcanic eruption, flood, or earthquake. We are also looking at ways to build structures to survive these disasters. Students will be given a chance to build and test a structure to see if it would survive a weak and strong earthquake. Check out these practice activities:

1. Surviving an Earthquake game
2. Volcanoes Fun Quiz
3. Build a Survival Kit
3. Help stop a Flood game (click on flood option)
