ELA: This week we will focus on 2 more sound patterns: -aunt (gaunt, haunt, taunt, flaunt, daunt) and -unch words (lunch, crunch, munch). Our first spelling test is this Thursday. Students are not required to spell words on paper, instead they will be given 3 variations of the spelling and have to circle the correct one. Our skill this week will be using text clues to make educated guesses, called inferences, about how character are feeling, thinking, or going to do next. Student can practice these skills by visiting the following websites:

1. Detective Game
2. Inference Riddles
3. Inference Trivia Game

Science: We are continuing our learning about how the earth has changed in the past several million years. We are focusing on how earthquakes and volcanoes were formed where plate boundaries come together. We will also discuss how fossils form, and how scientists use fossils to learn about our past. Students will get a chance to make a fossil this week and bring it home next week. Here are some fun practice sites:

1. Layers of Time Fossil Game
2. Back in Time Interactive
3. Practice Digging Up Fossils

Have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend!!!
