Week of February 5th – 9th!

I had a great time watching the Super Bowl this weekend with my family! Great job Eagles! I hope you had a chance to watch the game as well. We actually do not have any special events this week other than reading 20 minutes a night, filling out the reading log, and turning it in on Friday.

ELA: This week we will revisit text features in nonfiction books. These include things like maps, charts, bold words, table of contents, etc. The text features help us understand the text. We will also focus on 2 sets of prefixes for spelling words. These two sets include the prefix im- and in-. Both of these prefixes mean “not”. Some examples include impossible, impassable, and impatient. Words with the in- prefix include incorrect and independent. Check out the practice below:
1. Text Features Jeopardy Game
2. Text Features website full of videos and activities
3. Text Features rap

Science: This week we will continue our learning on collisions and how they transfer energy. We will also begin discussing speed and practicing how to calculate speed. You can practice here:
1. Collisions practice lab
2. Calculating Speed Challeng
3. Calculating Speed game
