Week of December 18th-22nd!!

I can’t believe this is the last week of school in 2017! The school year is half over and the time has gone by so quickly! I hope everyone has time to relax and enjoy family over the winter break.

Important Dates:
Monday-Tuesday: read 20 minutes, reading log
Wednesday: reading logs due
Wednesday: last day for students to pass a Reading Counts quiz for the month of December!
Wednesday: early dismissal at 11:50
Thursday, January 4th: first day back to school

ELA:
We will finish the novel “Chomp” this week and take our Reading Counts quiz before winter break. We have laughed and been surprised in this book about a fake nature survivalist and his tv show that is being filmed in the Everglades. We will also take our final spelling test of 2017 on Tuesday on the words from the last 2 weeks. There are no new learning targets, so I have no links to share.

Science:
We will finish our Earth Materials unit by looking at the three types of rocks, testing them, and discussing the rock cycle. Students will be given a study guide to review while on break. Our unit test will take place the second week of school back from winter break. Check out the following sites:
1. Virtual rock testing lab with video
2. Classifying Rocks online practice
3. Rock Cycle video

Happy New Year
