Week of December 4th-8th!!!

It is crazy to think we will start this week feeling like spring, and end it with possible snow flurries. I guess that’s life in Missouri, right? We are beginning our end of quarter assessments this week in some areas. Check out important dates below:

Monday-Thursday: read 20 minutes, complete reading log
Tuesday: Bookmobile
Thursday: Holiday Shop 6-8 pm
Friday: reading logs due

ELA:
This week we are adding on two more sound patterns: -orch (torch, porch, scorch) and -otch (botch, scotch, notch, blotch). Our spelling test for last week and this week will be on Friday. We are also reviewing all of our former learning targets: main ideas/details, summarizing, author’s purpose, text features, inferences, and reading technical/scientific text. Our unit assessment will be on Wednesday. We will then switch our focus to finishing our second quarter novel: “Chomp”. Here are some general practice activities for reading:
1. Practice Reading Articles with Questions
2. Practice Reading Passages
(make sure you choose a fourth grade one!)
3. Sir Readalot game

Science:
We will wrap up our weathering and erosion lessons and move onto volcanoes and earthquakes and how they rapidly change the surface of the Earth. You can learn more by visiting:
1. Volcano quiz/game
2. Beat the Quake safety game
3. Volcano Island game
