Week of September 4th-6th!

Sorry this is being posted late! With the holiday on Monday and meetings on Tuesday, this is my first plan time for the week. Here we go!

Important dates for the week:
-Remember: Reading logs are due Friday! I want to see an improvement over last week’s numbers.
-Wildcat Assembly on Friday at 2:45: we will gather and share all of the wonderful things our students are doing at school so far!
-Popcorn Day on Friday: bring 25 cents to purchase popcorn on Friday at lunch!

ELA:
This week we have added the following spelling words with the -aunt sound pattern: flaunt, haunt, daunt, taunt, and gaunt. We will have our first spelling test this Friday. Practice tests and games can be found by going to: Spelling City. We are also discussing how characters in books can change over time as well as comparing the adventures and life experiences of these characters in the same book. Check out the following practice pages for more:
1. Compare and Contrast Interactive site– choose 2 characters or objects to write about.
2. Compare and Contrast Trivia game
3. Compare and Contrast video

This week is all about volume of matter. We will practice finding the volume of cubic shapes as well as irregular shapes. Students are learning to multiply height by length by width to find the volume of a cube. Students are also learning to use displacement in water to find the volume of irregular objects.
