Week of April 24th-28th!!!

Can you believe we are in the final week of April already? Seems just like yesterday that we were talking about the final week of October. I can’t believe that we have less than 23 days left of school! Here are some important dates coming up:

Monday, April 24th: ELA MAP testing and Honor Roll Dinner

Wednesday, April 26th: ELA MAP testing

Friday, April 28th: 2 Reading Counts quizzes for the month of April due and reading logs due!

Monday, May 1st: Math MAP testing begins

ELA: This week we are taking the MAP test. I have been explaining to the students that they have nothing to be nervous about. Everything that appears on the test has already been covered and learned this school year. They just have to make sure they take the time to read the reading passages thoroughly and double check for answers in the passages. We will also practice analyzing 2 texts on similar topic on days we are not testing. Finally, we will begin our final chapter book of fourth grade: “Guardians of Ga’Hoole; The Capture”. Check out some practice activities below:
1. Analyze 2 texts video
2. Language practice MAP test
3. Grammar Practice

Science:
This week we are finishing up our project on Missouri birds and their needs. Students are researching a Missouri bird that could be found near our school ecosystem. They are compiling facts and creating a brochure to teach about that bird. Students will also learn about how camouflage helps animals survive; as well as how cold-blooded animals in Missouri are able to survive year-round in hot and cold climates. Check out the following links:
