ELA: This week we are wrapping up our figurative language unit with alliteration and onomatopoeia. Alliteration is when the author uses the same sound over and over in a sentence or story. An example is: My moody mom makes me meatloaf on Monday. Onomatopoeia is a word that comes from a sound. Some examples of these include: splat and splash. We are also working on a new suffix for the week: -ness (princess, actress, hostess, etc). Later this week we will take the Scholastic Reading Assessment to evaluate reading level. This level will be shared on the report card and at conferences.
