Week of December 5th-9th!

I wanted to start this week with a reminder for all students to please make sure that you are wearing a winter coat to school every day with gloves and a hat. The weather is supposed to get quite cold this week, and I want everyone safe and warm. If you do not have a coat and can’t get one, please talk to me in private so we can figure something out. Here are some important reminders this week:

Monday, December 5th: canned/boxed food drive begins!
Tuesday, December 6th: Bookmobile
Thursday, December 8th: Holiday Shop at Walker @ 6:30pm
Friday, December 9th: Reading Logs due
Looking Ahead: Friday, December 16th: half-day dismissal for winter break
ELA:
This week we are learning words with the -itch sound pattern (itch, witch, hitch, stitch, etc). We will have 1 more spelling test next week (Thursday) before winter break begins. We will also be comparing and contrasting 2 texts about similar topics.
1. Comparing and Contrasting Characters
2. Compare and Contrast 2 Stories
3. Comparing and Contrasting Video

Science:
We will continue our work with fossils and begin weathering, deposition, and erosion of rocks near the end of the week. Weathering means when rocks are broken apart, erosion is when those broken pieces get carried away, and deposition is when those broken pieces pile up in a new place.
1. Fossils Interactive
2. Exploring Fossils
3. Weathering and Erosion Activity
