Week of November 28th-December 2nd!

I hope everyone had a wonderful time with their family over the long Thanksgiving break. I was able to spend lots of quality time with all of my loved ones and even had a little extra time for getting my holiday shopping started. Here are some upcoming dates for the week:

Wednesday, November 30th: Reading Counts quiz needs to be passed by each student (this is for a grade!)
Friday, December 2nd: Reading logs due
Wildcat Assembly 2:45
Popcorn Day: 25 cents

ELA:
Our new spelling pattern for the week is -irth words (birth, mirth, firth, and girth). We will have a spelling test on Friday this week. Our skill of the week is comparing and contrasting the theme of myths and legends. We will read some Greek myths and then compare them with other myths and legends. We will also focus on the “lesson” being taught in the story. Check out the following activities:

4. Theme practice

Science:
We will continue our unit on the Earth by learning about the 3 rock groups: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Igneous rocks are formed when lava or magma from a volcano cools down. Sedimentary rocks are formed over millions of years when layers of sediment from rivers, oceans, etc pile on top of each other and harden into rock. The third type, metamorphic, are rocks that change from one kind to another due to heat and pressure inside the Earth. Check out the following links for more:
