Week of February 1st-5th!!!

Welcome to February! I hope everyone got a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend! We were able to have fun at my son’s Pinewood Derby, celebrate his birthday with family and friends, and then head out to Hidden Valley Ski Area to go tubing! So much fun! Here is a summary of our week:

1. Wildcat Assembly and popcorn day on Friday, February 5th. Remember, popcorn is 25 cents.
2. Students will get their new reading logs today (hopefully-the copy machine is currently broken). The reading logs for Mrs. Heckstetter’s reading group will be due back on Monday, February 29th.

ELA: This week we will focus on text structure in nonfiction pieces of writing. We will examine clue words and organizers that let us know if a piece of writing was written in sequence form, cause/effect form, problem and solution form, etc. Check out these practice websites:

1. Text Structures online quiz
2. Text Structures basketball game
3. Text Structures Resources

Science:
We will wrap up our unit on Natural Resources and begin talking about local and state groups/agencies who work to conserve our natural resources. Students will work in groups to create posters promoting these organizations. Check out some of their websites below:
