Happy New Year to everyone. I love the first day back after winter break because it is a chance for all students to have a new start. We are in a new season, new year, new month, new quarter, and new semester. Today we moved to new table groups and we are working on new goals for the second half of fourth grade. Here are a few reminders about the week:
1. Reading logs will go home tonight. Students should read 20 minutes a night. The logs are due back Friday, January 29th.
2. Our Wildcat Assembly takes place this Friday at 2:45.
3. Popcorn Day is Friday and costs 25 cents.
4. Second quarter report cards will go home on Friday.
Take a look at our week of learning:
Science: We will continue our electricity unit this week with learning about how energy changes forms. Electrical energy can change into light energy when we plug in a lamp. Wind energy can turn into electrical energy when a windmill moves a generator. Check out these websites to learn more:
1. Energy Flows game
2. Cat-Traption Energy Game
3. Energy Transformations Video
ELA: We are working on discovering the theme of a fiction story this week. In the past, we have found the theme of myths, legends, and fables. We will now continue this practice with a short fiction story. We will also learn words with the -itch sound pattern (ditch, hitch, itch) and the re- prefix (replay, remake, redo, etc). Check out the following for practice:
1. Grilled Cheese Please
2. Reading Comprehension Practice Pages
**I am also trying to get our winter party pictures loaded very soon. I am waiting for the ipad to charge and then will upload them.
Thanks for every thing you mean a lot to me
You are so sweet! I love having you in my class!
