Week of November 23rd-27th!!

Welcome to the Thanksgiving week! I am so thankful for all of my wonderful, hard-working, and lively students!! They make learning so much fun! I am also thankful for all the wonderful, supportive, and caring parents and guardians that have helped to make sure that their son/daughter is working hard at school and taking care of homework when they get home. I wish everyone a very relaxing and blessed Thanksgiving!! Due to the shortened week (no school Wed-Fri), we will not have a weekly report this week. If I have any specific concerns, I will contact parents individually. Also, don’t forget that reading logs will be due Monday morning, so please finish them over break if you need to. Finally, don’t forget that tomorrow (the 24th) is K.I.S.S. day from 2:15-3:15. If you never turned in your form to invite someone special, have them show up to the office a little early to get checked in by the secretaries. I look forward to meeting everyone’s special person.

ELA: We are taking a break from spelling and reading skills this week to do a comparison unit on early Thanksgivings compared to modern Thanksgiving celebrations. Students will watch reenactments from Plymouth plantation and compare it to their own Thanksgiving celebrations.

Science: We will spend some time doing experiments with a Thanksgiving favorite: the cranberry. We will investigate what happens to cranberries in water and why they do that. There is a great website for fun with other Thanksgiving foods. Check it out at http://www.weareteachers.com/blogs/post/2014/11/13/thanksgiving-food-lab
